Nearly 500MW! Enel submits Chile's photovoltaic project plan
Mar 30 , 2022
Recently, Enel submitted a plan to the Chilean green regulator SEA to build a 498MW photovoltaic project in the Atacama Desert area of Antofagasta.
The documents show that Enel hopes to build a 317MW Taltal photovoltaic project with a total investment of about US $ 350 million.
The Taltal project will be equipped with nearly 720,000 bifacial solar panels, each with a capacity of 440W, and more than 8,500 photovoltaic trackers.
In addition, Enel plans to add another photovoltaic installation to its Lalackama complex. After deploying 60MW Lalackama I and 18MW Lalackama Il between 2014 and 2015, Enel now plans to deploy 181MW Lalackama III.
Lalackama Ill will cost about $ 200 million and will consist of 41,1600 bifacial solar panels of the same 440W capacity.
According to scientists, the Atacama Desert has the world's most powerful photovoltaic resource.
According to the latest statistics, the installed capacity of renewable energy in Chile increased from 5.08GW in 2018 to 5.9GW in 2019, and the renewable energy share reached 19.4%, while Chile's goal is to have renewable energy account for 20% of the electricity structure by 2025 %.
